The City of Canada Bay has taken the lead in protecting our foreshore with the implementation of a mangrove protection and education program.
The Mayor joined the Council’s Bushcare Coordinator and a bushcare volunteer to launch new signage at Rodd Point on Wednesday, 23 May 2014.
The sign – the first of many to be installed around the bay – includes information about the importance of mangroves to our natural environment.
The education program focuses on the benefits of mangroves – including providing shelter for young fish and filtering water – in order to sustain our environment for generations to come.
The ,000 project has been jointly funded (dollar for dollar) by Council and the Office of Environment and Heritage’s Estuary Management Program.
