College Hunks Hauling Junk President, Nick Friedman

What’s really going on in your kid’s dorm room these days?

What do College Hunks Hauling Junk, your daughters packing boxes, and blood-thirsty Sharks have in common?

A quarter of a million dollars!

It’s no joke! My special guest this week is Nick Friedman, President and Co-Founder of College Hunks Hauling Junk. On Monday August 10th, 2009, the Japanese version of Dragon’s Den, Shark Tank, debuted as a reality TV show here in the United States. On that show, Nick Friedman and partner Omar Soliman pitched the Sharks their idea of College Foxes Packing Boxes, the sister start-up to the already up and coming fraternity phenomenon, College Hunks Hauling Junk. They received the big prize of 0,000. The only condition, those Sharks wanted a bite of the Hunks too.

“NO DEAL”, said Nick and Omar. Escaping the jaws of their brutal shark attack, they figured if the Sharks were willing to invest that kind of money they better concentrate on building out their core business and develop it into a successful business model first. Today there are over 40 franchises across the country.

And those Foxes? Well they’re safe, FOR NOW, swimming in the kiddie pool, waiting patiently to be released someday into those shark-infested waters of the corporate world.

What did their parents think, after struggling to get them through college? They finally landed those hard to find corporate cubicle jobs when the boys said, “guess what Mom & Dad, we’re going to quit our day jobs to go clean out peoples garages!” You won’t want to miss this answer.

Join me this Saturday on The Steve Henry Show, as we learn how this testosterone enterprise began from two college hunks who left their college majored corporate jobs, borrowing a broken down cargo van, having no money, just muscle and with effortless determination and hilarious ground floor experiences turned it all into a multi-million dollar enterprise.
